This hotel is truly spectacular. A little hidden gem off the beaten path past Gora. Tranquil surrounds with excellent facilities including complimentary wine on arrival and free barista coffee every morning in the coffee lounge with views of the forest and pond.
Incredibly well staffed and everyone was so friendly and accommodating. We were assisted and attended too with spectacular service right from check in to check out. Onsen was simple but very nice, the outdoor bath was a beautiful place to relax after a big day.
Overall a very positive experience for us. Great place for a couple to stay at. Couldn't recommend it more.

The hotel is beautifully situated on Lake Ashi, right beside Hakone Shrine and the Tori gate out in the lake. The hotel runs a shuttle bus from the nearby transpot hub on the banks of the lake, where buses to and from Odawara as well as the sightseeing cruise ships can be boarded. The hotel was also extremely clean and well presented. Our room was spacious and comfortable.

It’s pretty close to the main train station. The (restaurant) staff was pleasant. We enjoyed the onsite onsen. The town shut down early, so it was convenient having the Box Burger right there.
Pro-tip - Five minutes away is a cute shrine “Hien Waterfall” that should be visited.

INCREDIBLE! Truly the best hotel experience I’ve ever had. It was authentically Japanese and traditional so a great culture experience in that sense, and also very high quality. The service was above and beyond and the dinner and breakfast service were great. Would highly recommend and will be back! Thank you to the staff for making our honeymoon stay so wonderful.

Beautiful nature and atmosphere.
Beautiful nature and atmosphere. The trip to Lake Ashimoto was lovely and the scenery impressive. The highlight of our stay in Hakone was dipping in the local onsens, we loved the experience and the feeling of relaxation after a bath. We ate at different local restaurants, mostly found via map apps, which made great food at reasonable prices. We used the Hakone Pass to get around using trains, cable cars and the ropeway, all very convenient and easy to use. We could have used a couple extra days to visit some of the attractions in the area, that we did not have enough time to enjoy.

One of the highlights of our trip to Japan was visiting Hakone. We would wholeheartedly recommend staying in Gora and doing the loop up to the mountain and then on the sightseeing boat. The Hakone Free-Pass offers great value for money.

It’s the perfect break from the city buzz of Tokyo.
It’s the perfect break from the city buzz of Tokyo. There are arts and nature and the sights to explore. A hidden treasure that will impress those looking for a slower pace to unwind. I feel like kids and teenagers may find it boring.
The whole property has a 140 years history, which could be seen as a representative of the ryokan culture in Hakone. We were very pleased to stay at the hotel. Staffs were very friendly, they even got a staff can speak Chinese, who gave us a lot of help. The private onsen and the villa itself were a great experience. My parents stayed in the villa and they felt like so relaxed after a long day. Food were great too. We also ordered a Sake and it was not very expensive. In total, everything was great in here.
As my first ryokan experience, I was very happy with my stay. We had a private onsen to ourselves (altho this was the only room with such) which was incredible - I don't know how I would have fared using the public ones. The dinner and breakfast were delicious and a great taste of Japanese cuisine. The room itself was large, comfortable, and had some great views over the mountains. Also, the services offered by the hotel - shuttle buses and luggage transfer - came in very useful.
This ryokan is so elegant and inviting. Our room was amazing with an incredible view. The private onsen in our room was so relaxing and just delightful. One of the nicest hotel showers ever! The kaiseki dinner was beautiful, and even though Japanese breakfast isn't to my taste, the presentation itself was lovely. It was such a great one night splurge, so relaxing and rejuvenating. The shuttle service was great and made travel to and from Hakone-Yumoto a breeze.
Very nice ryokan in Hakone Yumoto, great location - bus stop for Hakone Yumoto station and, more importantly, Lake Ashi is on its door step. Very nice breakfast and Kaiseki dinner served in private rooms. Room is traditional Japanese but overall hotel has many style influences from Bali - as advertised in the name of the establishment. This made us want to both redo the experience of a traditional Japanese ryokan and travel to Bali! Staff are very helpful.
We had a very pleasant stay in the hotel. We searched for a hotel with private Onsen sessions and found ourselves lucky to find this hotel for a reasonable price.
The room was very spacious for Japan.
We enjoyed our stay. If you like hiking you should definitly do some hikes around Hakone. One morning the woman running the hotel even gave us a ride to the next town to start our hike. This was very kind.
Everything was very clean
The views from the rooms were sensational and the grounds provided a lovely place to relax - the welcome drink on arrival in the afternoon was a lovely touch. The staff were so friendly and helpful and the rooms comfortable and spacious, and we enjoyed the on-site onsen. There are lots of local activities - we really enjoyed the ships across Lake Ashi and also a day at the Hakone Open Air Museum.
Traditional Japanese hotel with VERY friendly staff. Breakfast and dinner were great.
Room was very spacious!
Good location, close to the cable car station, easy to reach. We got out at Kami-Gora station but you better get out at Sounzan Station then you don’t have to climb the steep hill with your luggage.
Ideal location for a day of visiting Hakone!
Make sure you check out the Onsen!
We had a great stay in the Hakone Sengokuhara Prince Hotel! Our room wasn't even the most expensive and yet it was super fancy, very big, and with views of the mountains. Everything was so peaceful and cozy! We also got a very nice breakfast with incredible views. On our way back, the hotel provided a shuttle for free that took us to the station so that was super appreciated! We loved it!
the hotel is beautiful, in a convenient location for Gora, Hakone. the onsen at the hotel was so peaceful and very beautiful. we also had a soaking tub on our terrace overlooking the mountains. Hakone, and this hotel specifically, gave us a welcome break from busy travel days in Tokyo and Kyoto. we didn’t have dinner at the hotel but the breakfast was awesome.
This was our first time to Hakone and to stay at a Ryokan. We can only draw from our own experience. The staff was exceptionally kind and really made our stay special. My daughter loves Momo, who helped us during our stay. The food was magnfiicient and we got to experience all 3 Onsens. It was so relaxing and the highlight of our trip to Japan.
Everything was perfect: staff were very kind and helpful; the onsen was incredible; the ambiance of the hotel was beautiful; proximity to public transportation and restaurants was ideal; access to nature was easy and offered some gorgeous hikes. I recommend this location wholeheartedly to anyone exploring the Hakone region. It was just perfect.
The staff was OUTSTANDING!!! Kind, warm, knowledgeable, friendly, accommodating, and caring. Lin, one of the inn keepers, helped us tremendously!!!
The onsen was FANTASTIC!!!
On this trip, we’ve been to many hotels, ryokans, and onsens! By far, this was was clean, beautiful, and over-the-top wonderful with staff who made it PERFECT!!!
Undeniably Beautiful Modern Ryokan in Hakone,
The Picturesque of Front Lobby Terrace facing the Lake Ashinoko. It was very close to Togendai-ko Station, easy to access by Pirate Cruise, Ropeway. As same as many Ryokans, they have public Onsen but I booked mine Open-Air Bath, so I didn’t get to go inside the public bath.
I enjoyed my stay at Hotel de Yama. The location was a huge plus for me, as I was interested in visiting the Hakone Shrine and Torii gate before it got too crowded. The service was great, the staff were lovely and friendly, and I loved the view of the garden and lake from my room and the hotel's public onsen.
Beautiful lake location. Staff at front desk speaks English and is super helpful in arranging taxi tour, and spend 20min to help with our English app to reserve Shinkansen train.
Onsen inside hotel, with amenities like massage chair in well equipped makeup room.
Fantastic hotel in a great location, Breakfast and Dinner was convenient as there is not many other options available in the area, Onsen was clean and very relaxing. Location was great with easy access to the boat tour and walking tracks in around lake Ashi
The staff will wait on you hand and foot. Public outdoor Onsen is very beautiful. The rooms are huge and luxurious. The property itself is beautiful. Things to do in Hakone are walk able from the hotel.
Excellent location near Lake Ashi & Hakone-machi-ko port with beautiful Mt Fuji views. An authentic Japanese inn with very friendly host. The hot pot dinner was delicious!
A cozy stay in a family run hotel very close to the Hakone-Yumoto station.
Staff was very kind and the room was spacious and clean.
The onsen was a great experience.
Private outdoor onsen and nice meals. The hotel also offer paid service to transport our luggage to Hakone-Yumoto station for pickup right at the train platform.
